Sangamam ’16

“As the sun rose

You bloomed with colors

Bringing Joy and Entertainment to others

Pulling up your sleeves

For three days You served us all

With Sounds to please the ears

With Steps to make us groove

With events to shape our thoughts

From beginning to end

You brought us crown

But together you brought the curtains down

Only to be pulled up again a year later

To yet another extravaganza

Sangamam 2016 – You were indeed the water for our thirst”

As stories come to an end, so had Sangamam leaving us devastated for more!

It’s time to flash back those three days of massiveness. But it would be an understatement to mention  Sangamam 2016. Began on 13th of march for the enthusiasm and the power reached the brim a month prior where the prelims for each events took its limelight and hard core practice for stage performances commenced . Be it art, literature, dance, music or fun, GCT’s children took the chance to shine with all might. The lonely evening roads guarded by trees saw traffic building. The sounds of popular songs filled the air near Orchestra room. The quadrangle was populated by several happy feet tripping the light fantastic toe to the beats. And with the open auditorium stage set  the red carpet day arrived.

13th march 2016:

After months of keeping the spirits high and eagerness to the peak , Sangamam 2016 started early with flowers springing to life and color. As clock scored 9 the curtains rolled to the sides leaving the dais beam with spotlights.

To give a sniff of the events in a jiffy , lets start with the puppet show. Theme revolved around saving mother earth. Are we so ill hearted to sell the land which gave us life  to the corporate society for timely leisure ? Are we so self-interested that we would let our children live in business environment where even time and air has to be bought?  This thought circled all minds when each of the characters – Present, Past and future conversed.

Another highly anticipated event- Therukoothu gave its crowd more than it asked for. Taking up social issues and portraying it in highly sophisticated manner was no bargain for the team . With cheers and claps booming from the audience the team mastered its act and set the area bubbling with energy. Later on Literary and debating society and Tamil mandram each performed a stage play giving the taste of highly loved languages in GCT and not to forget our traditional “Villu Paatu” , mime before signing the day off.

14th march 2016:

Another bright day for  bright minds. Dedicated majorly for the finalists of events to battle it out on the grounds. To mention a few that took center stage are – “Yamirukka Bayamae, the twelve kingdoms, Kanithan, Islanders” and more. At the same time, the new stage set up on the ground saw “Pattimandram” and “Valakaadu Mandram”. As evening surfaced in, the loud speakers were tuned, musical instruments checked and mike turned on for the Orchestra team to sparkle things up. Smile, laughter, enjoyment stuck to each of the audience faces who didn’t restrict in dancing their hearts out to the beat. To add more to this merriment GCT’s official dance teams – Eliminators and Karuthathmas stole the show.

15th March 2016:

To say things short – The day of common cultural. Right from first years to final years danced for beat after beat, song after song unweariedly entertaining the crowd and making them have an enjoyment of ages.

As the sun set , so did Sangamam. Leaving us all with memories-memories that never fade.

And now we wait. For Sangamam – 2017 to be born, to be roared, to be massive.
