An interview with Dr. Anbazhagan Vijay

Government College of Technology is filled with many nerds, athletes, dancers, singers, fitness freaks, talented professors, etc. To succeed in their field everyone must work hard because,

“Nothing worth having comes easy”

GCT has seen many successful stories till now. Many hard workers proved themselves. One among them is assistant professor Dr. J. Anbazhagan Vijay. A small meet with him was interesting and he shared many of his experiences.

1. What made you to choose this profession sir?

I love teaching and I wanted to be a teacher. When I did my higher studies, I made up my mind to become a college teacher.

2. Describe your journey to GCT

Actually, I started at Government College of Engineering, Bargur. I worked there for five years and of course the journey to GCT was unfortunate. I wanted to shift to some other place but after coming to GCT, I felt very comfortable and happy.

3. Say about the classes you handle.

Currently, I am meeting CSE, ECE along with EIE, IBT and Civil – B.

4. Being an assistant professor, have you ever felt that your work is laborious?

No, I love working. Basically, I am a person who keeps working. Even though the work is a little laborious, it gives a kind of pleasure working beyond hours.

5. What’s your daily schedule, the time you get up, start your day

I used to wake up early morning before 5AM. I go for a walk, read newspaper. I’ll reach the college at 9 or 9:30AM, then usual academic work starts. I am not too punctual, though I work very late, I’m not very punctual.

6. At home you are a father, a husband, how do you balance college and home?

I don’t have any issues in balancing home and work. When I go home, whatever help I can tender, I accomplish.

7. Do you get any spare time? How do you spend it?

Every Saturday and Sunday I have holidays, I read, visit hometown, see my mom on those days. I spend too much of time in shopping.

8. As a professor, your work will be around students. Say a few words about your students

My students are heterogenous and affectionate. I love all my students. Some students call me student friendly, student’s friend.

9. If you want to say us something, what will you say?

Enjoy your time, don’t make things too complicated. It’s the time to enjoy your life. Once you complete the course, you’ll be in core or software industry, so this is your time, you don’t need to worry much.

10. What do you want to bring in GCT? How do you contribute to GCT’s welfare?

My capacity as a Student Club coordinator, I think I am making a difference because I concentrate more upon cocurricular and extracurricular activities. Academics is not only life. Sports, music, dance, etc. bring happiness, they are good distractors for those are linked with academics. Go for your passion.

He ended this with a smile! Filled with love….
