GCT Men Handball Team bags Title Trophy
GCT Men Handball Team emerged triumphant as they won the title trophy of Men Handball competition held at Hindustan College of Arts & Sciences on January 07, 2015. Mrs Ramya IPS Coimbatore graced the occasion and handed over the awards to the winners. Twenty four teams from various clubs, arts& science, engineering colleges participated in the competition. On queried about their fixtures the captain of the team M.K. Manoj said, “The first match was against Park College of Engineering and Technology. As the score line suggests (12-5), it was an easy one. The Second match was against SRKV Arts and Science, we expected a tough fight as they were a very good team and had won a lot of tournaments the previous year, but we won the match on 13-3 points.”
The remaining fixtures were too close to call as we had to battle it out against PSG College of Technology, Hindustan College of Arts and Science and Sri Narayana Guru College of Arts and Science in the quarter Finals, semi Finals and for the finals respectively. We won each of the matches by 10-9, 15-14, and 20-19 respectively. When asked about the practise routine, team member Robin said “We have regular practise, but the training got rigorous ten days prior to the tournament and also added that that team spirit was key towards the team success and every one contributed towards it. The team also said they were looking forward to the TIES, and hope that they extend their form into the competition.
