049 - The lady with a concrete mind

I was the only girl student delighted, holding the admit card to a civil engineering degree after the counseling. During my days, I grew up with a lot of admiration for civil engineers, so I was truly happy in getting graduated from this field.

With a dream of becoming an entrepreneur, I started my UG, but life had other better ideas leading me into the field of teaching. Eventually, I realized that no other profession would have given me this level of satisfaction. Besides, I started to love being surrounded by budding engineers with a juvenile spirit who rarely got exhausted.

When I first stepped into GCT as a student, I always had this unknown natural affinity or should I say it precisely 'a feeling of the nativity' which constantly kept me in this bubble of GCT. Little did I know back then that GCT will become my workplace.

Speaking about my connection with GCT as a lecturer, I am sure no other college would have given me this freedom to mold these young souls the way I preferred. In fact, a special bond bloomed between us, which I always cherish. To my dismay, this new normal has snatched away that time from me. However, with each passing day, I realize that any new normal will not have the power to change the role of a teacher in a student’s life.

I always tell my students that when they succeed, the only other soul apart from their parents, who would be truly happy without an ounce of displeasure are teachers. Give them that happiness.

Finally, to wrap up, I would like to give one piece of advice. Like it is often quoted - ‘Jack of all trades, Master of none, knowing everything partially gains you nothing. Be the master of one realm wherein no one can beat you. “BE THE CHANAKYA OF YOUR OWN DOMAIN.”
