050 - Live to be Extraordinary!

"If you search for a name in google, you are an ordinary person. If someone searches for your name, you are an extraordinary person" - the quote that often fuels my ride. My elder sister is an alumnus of GCT and that is how I got to know about GCT. I have been into computer science and tech since childhood and it was my dream to study IT in GCT. I never wanted to be the one who merely passed out from this institution, rather the one who will be remembered.

Our college has clubs for almost all activities except coding. I started working on it with the vision that it will expose students to atleast the fundamentals of coding. Devi Ma'am(AP, IT Dept) helped me a lot in setting this up. Still, we couldn’t get through it. Meanwhile, I contributed to the tech developer community of Y’s club and shared the exposure that I gained.

I got into the eminent Microsoft student ambassador program for which LinkedIn was of great help. I got past the interviews that ran for almost 6 months. Since students from diverse communities were part of the program, I strengthened my professional network. I had a one-on-one meeting with the university recruiter of Microsoft and that immensely helped me during my interviews. During my final year, I reached the beta level of the program but couldn't focus on that further due to placements.

My classmates entrusted me with the role of placement representative. We, unfortunately, happened to be the first batch to undergo virtual placements. Reaching out to companies and trying to bring in the best possible placement ratio during the pandemic was a great challenge and despite that my batch performed very well. I always wanted to give back to GCT. My seniors have helped me a lot and I thrive to be one of those seniors to the rest.

I read and write blogs during my leisure time. Mr. Sundar Pichai is one of my inspirations and developing a start-up is my all-time dream."

Be consistent, be collaborative, be contributive" is one of the quotes I wake up to every day. I always wanted to become a web developer and I am one now. So, I want to be the best at it, I live to be extraordinary.
