047 - A Musical Journey

"On my 6th birthday, Appa bought me a keyboard and Amma enrolled me in a music class as I showed interest. It all started there.

Mr. Solomon was my first teacher. After years of learning, I witnessed my first stage performance during 8th grade. Despite all the nervousness, I performed my first song ‘Po Nee Po’ really well. Appreciations from my classmates gave butterflies in my stomach. I passed my Grade Exam on Keyboard, conducted by the Trinity College London with distinction during 10th grade, the same year after which I’d begun to compose. I’ve won prizes in many interschool competitions and even competed at District level. As a part of this musical journey, I created a YouTube channel called ‘haritunes’ and I’ve been uploading on it ever since.

A R Rahman is my role model. I grew up listening to his music and he inspired me to produce songs in various genres.

My music life in GCT began when seniors approached our class for Orchestra audition during the Induction Program. Sangamam ’19 Orchestra show was my first ever GCT stage performance. In Sangamam '20, with my Orch Partner Mubeen, I pulled a fully independent show, for the first time without seeking any help from professional instrumentalists. Then the lockdown came, yet in MuFx, we’ve been doing collabs and covers.

Another wonderful experience added to this journey when I joined DPS Music School, Saibaba Colony. I’ve been teaching students here since 2019. I play flute, guitar, violin, can sing and draw as well. I’ve mastered arpeggio, therefore I can play simultaneously in both hands.

Music has helped me overcome my introvert side. To establish my own music academy and to become a music director would be my dream. I even incorporate music symbols into my signature. No matter what my career will be, music will be in my blood forever. There is this thing with everyone- you would find a hobby/passion where you totally immerse and lose yourself in the act of doing it. I found that my heart goes for music. I wish everyone would find what's their thing and follow that to add more colors to their lives!"
