044 - Dear little paws!

One of the things I love about GCT is that it is a home for a lot of stray dogs and their puppies. In our hostel, I would feed the pups with milk and snacks. I love puppies a lot, but I never happened to own one until I saw Jackie. One day, on my way to college from the mess, I saw this fluffy white pup running behind everyone in the pathway. She looked hungry. Upon closer look, I found that she had suffered infections throughout her body. I felt pity for her. It had already been late to my classes. Also, it was the peak time in the mess. Yet, somehow I managed to grab some milk for the pup and poured it on a plate, and I placed it near her and then I rushed to class. I couldn't stop thinking about the pup! At noon I came back to see her at the place where I left her. To my disappointment, she wasn't there. It was about 5' o clock in the evening I found her again, lying in the wet soil under a tap in front of our hostel. Her white fur was infested with lice. Her skin was full of patches and rashes. She was lying there, drained and senseless that she couldn't even feel the colony of ants boring her soft skin near her ears and eyes. At the moment, I decided to take her home. I called Amma and informed her. I took some money and a bigshopper to carry her carefully and left the hostel. She was too dizzy to whine and she'd fallen asleep in the entire travel. I reached home at 11 pm. The next morning, when we took her to the vet, I worried whether she would make it as the infection had spread all around her skin. The vet treated her wounds and said that she would get well soon. I felt relieved. In the initial days, Jackie was too playful, tearing things into pieces and driving amma mad. Eventually, she began understanding our commands and started acting nicely like a good pup. She's seven months old now. In these quarantined days, we've got plenty of time to spend with her and she's become a part of our family. This little bear is our happy pill, and she is making our every day delightful!
