042-Flooding Memories

Upon entering college life, like many other students, I was overconfident in academics. The real difference between school and college life hit me hard when I ended up having a backlog in a subject in my first semester. Soon, I became more vigilant about my studies. Then, the first year of college went just like that.

It was in the second year, on 2nd September of 2017, I was performing my first street play on the stage of Muthamizh Vizha without having any slightest hint of the events that were about to happen in the next two years of my college life. Back then, I had no idea about the club "Manavar Mandram", it was through the street play I entered the mandram.

The thought of creating social awareness among the public on the various social issues happening in this society was an ingrained one in me. More than winning prizes for the performance, the motto behind the street play motivated me more. The idea is to deliver the content for a social cause in an engaging way to the concerned audience and instilling the strong impact in them. To date, I've participated in around 18 street plays both inside and outside the campus. Besides, Loguraj and I had had a plan of setting up a parai troupe in GCT and we established it successfully.

It was the mandram that wiped off my stage fear and inculcated the habit of effective communication and time management in me. But the General Secretary posting of Tamil Mandram was initially quite a challenging task for me. Generally, I'm a calm person and I would seek solitude whenever I feel disturbed or confused. It helps me in realising what action has to be taken next at the moment and retain my composure at difficult times.

If I were asked to mention things that I cherished more in my college life, honestly, those would be my days in the club. We were more like a family. I can remember like yesterday when we used to rehearse for street plays in nights lacking sleep and waking up at the same place the next day morning and rushing to the classes. They are all simply flooding memories, now.
