Brainstrain – A clash of young minds
Brainstrain- The annual event for school students was organized by The Literary and Debating Society (LDS) of GCT on 23 January this year. Students from various schools across Coimbatore participated in the event. The story was no different this time as SBOA grabbed the overall trophy. The event included competitions like JAM, Elocution, Shipwreck, Debate, Creative writing, Quiz, Potpourri which tested the student’s skills.
The Topics of social relevance like Death penalty, Nuclear power-The answer to energy crisis, Social network and the younger generation were given to students in Elocution competition. Shipwreck tested the wit and spontaneity of students as personalities assigned included Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Bean, James Bond and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Creative Writing essayed the saying “A pen is mightier than a sword” as students had to pen their thoughts into paper. A skit was performed by the students of SBOA on female feticide which garnered appreciation. The one-day event started at around 10 in the morning and was winded up at around 4 in the evening.
